 "good... but... why???" 2009-05-14
By Jun Jackson
Well first off the product itself is good and I enjoy it.. but... there are a few "hiccups" that i think couldve been avoided. First off the Dpad is not quite suitable for fighters, though you can make do. When i bought this gamepad i was oblivious to the fact it had trigger buttons, so much to my enjoyment (and maybe dismay) i discovered em upon opening the box. The bad thing of these is of the way the feel, they end up resting on top of your middle fingers (If you hold the controller such as I do , by only having the index fingers on the shoulder buttons)

Now the real disapointment... But I'm not going to bash on this product as I shouldve looked up the software b4hand. It has been a LOOOONG time since I've bought a gamepad or joystick, but this game pad specifically came with software to calibrate etc the buttons. Not saying controllers I've bought in the past didnt come with this, but normally the software involved gave you the option of assigning KEYBOARD functions to your joystick/gamepad, whereas i havent been able to find that same option with this one, which is a disapointment. If anyone has found the answer to this plz inform me ^_^ as i cant enjoy my FF7 on the pc with the keyboard as much as i could using the controller 8*(

overall its a good pad, but I'll be looking forward to when I get my next one as well I'm afraid.

"Really, really nice 3rd-party controller" 2009-05-02

Very good product. Functions perfectly on PS1, PS2, PS3, and PC.

For those interested/concerned, switching "modes" (PC vs. PS3) is as simple as a toggle switch on the bottom of the controller. The controller has a split-out, with both a USB and a PS1/2 style input--simply plug the PS-style end into a PS1/2, no toggle-switching required.

Compared with a Dualshock model controllers, it's a bit bulkier. Think of it as a hybrid Xbox/PS3 controller...behind the typical R1/R2 L1/L2 placement is an Xbox-style trigger (R4/L4) which is also mapped to R2/L2 in Playstation mode. All controls are programmable/switchable via the controller, in either mode, which is great for PS1-3 games that don't allow customizable controls.

The buttons feel pretty firm (not as good as Dualshock buttons) and the triggers are a bit awkward, given how many there are, but after a little adjustment it feels just as natural as a PS3 controller.

HUGE BONUS - the d-pad. The D-pad is massive, it feels good, and it's Sega Saturn/Genesis style, e.g. circular, raised, and has great play. Further exemplifies just how god-awful the 360 d-pad is.

One drawback would have to be in the description. The manufacturer (or Amazon) undoubetly worded the "6 progressive axes" comment to sound like Six-Axis. Do not get these confused. This controller does not have motion control in PC mode or PS1-3 mode. The progressive axes described refer to the force-feedback (I'm assuming...) which is quite good. Do not, however, get this controller expecting a stand-in PS3 controller for Six-Axis games or you'll be sorely disappointed. Makes a fantastic Resident Evil 5 co-op controller though!

Would have been 5/5 if it weren't for the "creative advertising" designed to slightly mislead...4/5 as is, but a phenomenal controller and leagues better than anything else in its price range, considering the range of application. If you only own one PS3 controller and could use a good PC gamepad as well, you cannot do better than this purchase.

"The larger controller that could" 2008-11-06
By phoenix (ohio United States)
Well between thrustmaster's wireless pad and this 1 this has more the size i was expecting, not that having a smaller pad for travel or kids is bad but

you'd proabably be hapier with the size on this 1. It even has l4 / r4 which are the gun triggers under r2 / l2 which is great to map guns to.

It's ergonomics make it hard to use l1 /r1 which can be mapped to the aformentioned gun triggers leaving r2 /l2 useable. Like their smaller wireless pad it's 100% re-mapable so again lefty's this is your answer

to bad design because you can now fix it. 100% WORTHWILE with great build quality and features. I really love the 360 styled triggers that can replace r1 / l1 In my opion they shouldn't have bothered puting both l1/l2

and r1/r2 on the pad as they could've just put l1 / and r1 where the shoulders are and make the gun triggers r2 /l2 just for slightly better ergonomics but it's almost moot since everything's remapable.

IF YOU'RE A SOUTHPAW OR LEGACY PLAYER BUY IT-YOU WON'T REGRET IT,I DIDN'T! It's not wireless though with a cord that splits into an old playstation plug for psone,ps-2 and a usb port for ps3 or pc.

 "Dual Trigger 3-IN-1 Gamepad " 2008-02-10
By azrael (Green Island, NY)
I got this to play EA Sports NHL 08 on my PC. It works great and the mapping functions are easy to use. Plus the triggers are great for NHL08. Before I got this I was using an AlienWare gamepad, but the right analog stick was screwed up(although its orientation was fine in Windows, up responded as left, down responded as right, left responded as up, and right responded down) within the game. The Thrustmaster works perfectly fine. Highly recommended.
