"Ok, if it doesn't go dead after a few days" 2009-08-02
By Justin Valleau (USA)
Mine lasted 4 days before it just died completely....

I seldom do any gaming, just FS2004 a few times. I really take good care of my stuff. I bought this as a replacement for another joystick, because I wanted the throttle feature.

When I got it, I was impressed at the response of the stick. The throttle was ok. Overall, I was concerned about the cheap plastic feel and the "Made in China" logo. I was not surprised to find out that it went bad after a few hours use. It just quit with the Power light still on. "lights on, but nobody home".

I returned it for a refund and will stick to a better manufacturer like CH.

I had a thrustmaster way way back and it too died. I should have known better.

Also, after a lot more research, I should have bought the Saitek X52 or X52 Pro. They are also "made in China", but they are much more adaptable for all kinds of games. This Thrustmaster is really only for the HAWX game and for FS X. It can work in other games, but it is Not software programmable. Only through the Game Software. There's No Programming Software for this unit.....

All in all, it wasn't worth the money unless youy only want to use it for HAWX.

"Good value for a joystick" 2009-07-21
By D. Bezboruah (Los Angeles, CA United States)
Believe the other reviews, folks. I ordered this joystick solely on the reviews here on Amazon and I am glad that I did. I don't want to reiterate too much of what the other reviewers have already said, but I will say what I think is important. I only use Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 and this joystick worked with the game right out of the box! The quick start guide explains which buttons are mapped to which functions by default for Flight Simulator X. Turns out the same mapping applies to FS 2004 as well!

There is one thing to be aware of: on the throttle is an LED-lit "home" button. If you wish to use the large grip buttons on the throttle for the rudder function in Flight Simulator, then make sure this LED is RED and not GREEN (just press the button to change it). Otherwise, in "GREEN" mode, the large grip buttons on the throttle serve as a separate axis for the joystick.

The joystick is shipped with the throttle detached. The USB cable runs to your PC/PS3 from the joystick, while another cable runs between the throttle and joystick. You can attach the two components together as shown in the product picture using an Allen wrench attached to the bottom to screw in two nuts. However, the cord between the components will need to be wound into a holder under the throttle, which seems a bit annoying in trying to conceal the cord.

 "The Holy-Grail for Flight-Sim Joy Sticks" 2009-07-16

T-flight Hotas Stick Pc PS3

This is my second one. I bought the first from Amazon last October-08. I was impressed with it's construction and overall operation ,but it had a few quirks. So I sent it back and paid the re-stock fee.

I've been a Microsoft Flight Simmer for 7-8 years and I've tried and/or owned almost all the joy-sticks and yokes(with and without foot pedals)that have been marketed in this country.

I have a soft spot for my Logitech 3-D Pro that has served me well for many years but I never really cared for their throttle design, and I guess thst's what attracted me to the Thrustmaster Hotas.

After waiting 6-months to give the manufacturer a chance to make another production run (and hopefully overcome the faults I found on my first one) I ordered another and found that it worked flawlessly. I am now a happy "camper".

If joy sticks are your thing, look no further, THIS IS THE ONE.---- Extremely well made, solid professional feel, smooth control actions that allow precise take-offs and landings, heavy weighted, priced right and delivered by Amazon.

Order one now, you won't be sorry !!!!

"Not what I was looking for" 2009-08-11
By LD (Landenberg, PA)
This is a mystery game vs. a search for hidden items game which I thought I was buying. Without a chapter by chapter cheat that I found on the internet, I'm not sure I would've been able to get through this game. It's not what I was looking for. The graphics and sounds were good, just not as much fun as I thought.

"The Best Mystery Game Ever" 2009-01-02
By M. Marks
I absolutely fell in love with this game! I enjoyed it so much, I became quite addicted. Most of these type of games tend to be "cheesy" and aimed at a younger audience, but this game was very entertaining and the story was amazing. The voices were quite good also, but the graphics could of been a bit better. The characters were very great, and I love how there is more than one ending you can create. I highly suggest this game to those who love mysteries.

 "Yak Yak Yak" 2008-11-18
By polomex (Chicago, IL)
I'm a big fan of the book this is based on, which is what attracted me to the game. I'm GLAD the ending is not the same as the book because, really, what fun would that be? While reading the book is not essential to playing the game, it might help give you some insight to the characters.

If you're accustomed to action-based games, this is NOT the game for you. This is a puzzle game, consisting of lots and lots of dialogue, picking up items, and solving mental challenges.

As others have said, I do wish there were "shortcuts" in the game. Walking/running from one end of the map to the other ate up a lot of time. While I did enjoy the scenery, a lot of game time could have been saved if there were quick transport options.

Also, my game ran on Vista, but I did run into a couple glitches. I found myself saving often, because certain items, when examined closely, caused the program to crash. It didn't happen often, but it occurred enough times to become mildly annoying.

It is impossible to get through this game without some kind of cheat sheet. Some required actions or items made absolutely no logical sense. (For example, a conversation is held with someone who's hanging out in the bathroom... Why is s/he there? There's no explanation.) I don't know if the game creators were trying to be clever about their hiding places, but too often I was not provided with enough info to successfully solve or understand what I was supposed to do.

Even with all that said though, I thoroughly enjoyed this game. It was dark yet sophisticated, much like the book. I didn't want to stop playing, even after several hours. The storyline flowed smoothly, and the characters kept me guessing.

The game itself was interesting. Two drawbacks are 1. There is a glitch with the game that boots you out stating your computer has a virus (which is not the case) and 2. Game does not allow you to pass over dialog from game actors which became extremely long and boring.

This control pad is good, not great, for most games that'll take it, but I do not recommend it for SF4 or other games like 3s on an emulator. The D-pad is better than most, but still inadequate for any serious fighting games, especially the diags which will frustrate you to no end.

 "Good Controller" 2009-06-03
By Samuel Crick (Brooklyn, NY)
This is pretty much everything you need for a USB controller, and fairly priced. I use it for video game emulators I have on my computer and it works very well. There are one or two games it doesn't work for, but I blame the ROM and not the controller. There are a couple of issues: The way the joysticks are designed, they seem to favor toward the diagonal, which can make it a pain to just move your character in a straight line. This isn't a deal breaker, but it does take getting used to. Also, though I've only had it for a couple of months, one button that I seem to use a lot has started sticking a bit, which makes me wonder about the controller's longevity. Nonetheless, it does feel very durable, and I wouldn't judge it so soon. Other reviews highlight its durability, so it's probably fine. Overall, these issues are negligible next to the simple pleasure of using a controller, rather than a keyboard, for games designed to be used by a controller. It is a worthwhile purchase.

This game pad is perfect for what I had in mind. I have a late 2008 24" imac which it works perfectly with. I didn't need to use the software that came with it. All the controls work as described when I play my two racing games and the vibration feedback works. From reading the reviews before purchasing I wasn't sure this was the case and even from reading the box you could possibly get the wrong idea. Just plug it in and you should have no problems

"Good for medium to large hands." 2009-08-03
By Susan Roesbery (Seattle, Wa)
I've been told that I have small hands. I get a little sore from the reach needed to take full advantage of the buttons, but I know that anyone w/ larger hands would be completely satisfied. Well maybe not completely satisfied. The buttons didn't have the weight that I prefer. I always feel like I"m pressing them too hard because there is so little resistance and w/ the analogue sticks I had a lot of trouble mastering certain moves because my thumbs weren't calibrated to the nearly nonexistent resistance.

I have had two of these controllers and do not find them as satisfactory as others have. The first one i had the button got stuck and could not be fixed. The second one which lasted only a few months broke because the wires became "loose". My laptop could no longer sense the game pad because the wires broke inside.

Pros: Works well for EA sports games and others

Good price

Cons: Doesn't last as long as i would like

We bought this awhile ago for the computer, but never knew what it had in store for me. If you don't mind a long cord instead of wireless for the PS3, than definitely buy this! My brother bought this, and after we got our ps3, we thought, it would be funny if this thing worked for the PS3, but we never actually tried it untill now. Shure it lacks the ps button and the motion sensors, but so what?! it works just as good as a regular ps3 controller, and it's gonna save you 30 bucks, plus an awsome computer controller! if you have a PS3, definately buy this. If you don't, still buy it!

 "Great buy!" 2009-07-29
By Joseph Djugash
I was skeptical at first when I bought this. Let's face it the fan is just a bonus but I didn't want it to ruin the controller it self. But both the fan and controller are great! the fan gives a nice cool flow of air and the controller itself works great. The buttons themselves are good. One of the buttons did get stuck temporarily when I was bashing it a lot (and i mean a LOT). But it was easily remedied when I just pressed it slow and nudged it. I recommend this product highly because it does the job it is supposed to and gives you a little more (the fan) for free!

 "Best PC Controller Ever" 2009-07-27
By Tyler J. Pack
This controller has analog sticks that are just loose enough to be perfect for fps and driving games alike. The shape of the controller is flawless, being just the right size for my hands. The buttons also have the same size and responsiveness as a first party 360 controller, aside from the left and right triggers which I prefer on the Chillstream as they are easier to press. The analog sticks have great grip, and are perfectly centered within the original dead zone. The controller has worked better than any other (including a 360 controller) on emulators and many pc games. Because it is an Xusb controller, games for windows such as Bioshock and Fallout 3 recognize it as a 360 controller and map the controls in an appropriate way. Although there is no included button mapping software, there is a wonderful program called Xpadder that has support for the Chillstream and makes mapping game controls a breeze. Overall, this controller is legendary.

"Xbox 360 controller down to the drivers" 2009-06-10
By Jackel X (Weirton, WV - USA)
I got this because i bought a awesome gaming computer and needed a good controller. I was going to get a regular 360 controller but i always buy logitech cause there stuff usually lasts over 5 years for me =].

This controller is a xbox-360 controller down to the drivers/software. I got a vista 64 bit system and pluged it in and it worked right away saying it installed the xbox-360 controller, Only xp systems have to use the install disc.

I Love it, because a lot of games design there controller thingys (idk) specifically for 360 controllers so this fit the bill. It's also pretty comfortable, little small but it somehow fits my hands perfectly, and my hands are little bit bigger then average. The fan is nice to.

Logitech is always the best for me XD buy it!!!! it works great.

"Works well at being a controller AND an air conditioner for your hands" 2009-06-05
By J. Neill (Pittsburgh, PA USA)
The Logitech ChillStream Gamepad looks very similar to an XBox 360 controller in button and control placement. It feels a bit hollow, but that is because it has fans that blow air on your hands while you play. This air flow does help nicely when engaging in a long gaming session.

I use this controller on a Windows 7 (RC) machine, and I did not have to do anything special - plugged it in and it worked.

The size is a tad smaller than an XBox controller, and as an XBox owner, I could feel the difference, but it wasn't enough to cause any problems - just noticeable.

PROS: Works well, gives all the controls that one would find on a console controller. Fan does help cool the hands.

CONS: Feels a bit hollow due to the fans. USB cable instead of wireless.

OVERALL: I'd recommend this controller to anyone looking for a good "XBox style" controller for the PC.

"I have never used a better PC gamepad." 2009-07-21
By weirdalfaniam (Phoenix, AZ)
I cannot believe NYKO stopped making these, get them while you can- you won't regret it. I started on a GravisPad back in 1990 (the one with the stick that screwed into the d-pad) that plugged into the MIDI port on my sound card. I have used every gamepad between the gravis pad all the way up to a Xbox360 gamepad for PC gaming, and I still think the NYKO Airflo is the best for three reasons:

1- Quality of build

The Airflow just feels tough when you hold it. When you're gripping it to make that hard-to-hit trick in Tony Hawk, it doesn't creak, and it doesn't flex, despite being mostly open inside (for the air to flow). I used mine for about 600 hours across 2 years and the ONLY reason I stopped using it is because I stepped on it (I'm 6'5" and weight about 260 lbs) and broke one of the thumb-sticks (it still worked, just erratic). Up until that point it worked PERFECTLY, even after being dropped, stepped on multiple times, getting spilled on and crushed while moving.

2- Great design

I'm a big guy, and I have hands the size of a bunch of bananas, and yet I could comfortably hold this controller for hours while I played Xmen: Children of the Atom or Psychonauts and not get a cramp. The buttons are placed right where your finger naturally go when you want to press them, and they are snappy and don't wiggle in their holes or hesitate when you are jamming the fire button down over and over. The thumb-sticks are tight and accurate, and once you get the feel for them, you'll have a hard time going back to even a PS3 controller.

3- Great concept

I've used gamepads before that had a gimmick. I had a SNES pad that used a flat touch-sensitive d-pad. It was crap. I've had PC gamepads that boast motion control for flight sims. They were all crap. Even other pads that offer vented hand-holds either didn't have enough air movement, or felt like they were as flimsy as a plastic Easter-egg in my hands. But the Nyko Airflow can't be beaten. It's side grips are more like a cage, so there's no way you can plug up all of the air vents (I've tried), and the vents are made of a more rigid plastic than the rest of the pad, so they maintain their strength despite all of the openings for air to flow through. As an added bonus, the vents have a sort of weave pattern to them that gives you phenomenal grip above and beyond having dry hands.

I cannot recommend this gamepad highly enough. If you have an Xbox360 use that gamepad on your PC, but for anyone else, this is a no-brainer. Order it now!

I was surprised to get a controller I enjoyed for a decent price. I have had this for over a year and have not experienced any trouble with it. The buttons are customizable, and some games will automatically set the game controller with the controls if it's installed and plugged in. With several extra buttons and 2 joysticks, I would recommend this to anyone who is tired of the keyboard and wants the game to feel real.
